I was metaphorically dragged by my ankles to attend this poorly scheduled school assembly, got somehow bemused by torn priorities, but decided to eventually give in. For one, my closest college friends’ graduation falls exactly on the same day, but I couldn’t argue more, so I finally settled on choosing and attending this one.

The KASAMA Leaders’ Assembly was a first in MSU-IIT history. This meeting also serves as a joint strategic planning with the KASAMA and the Executive Council officers (represented by the college governors).

The program started with the usual invocation and national anthem, followed by Mr. President Red Sacayan’s opening remarks and Senate President Mikee Maruhom’s overview and objectives.

Senator James Antiquina took the honor of introducing the guest speaker, Prof. Marlo Novino, an MSU-IIT BSBA Entrepreneurial Marketing graduate. We couldn’t ask for a better speaker; he was definitely the coolest! Loads of charm, if I may say.

Photo Ops with the college governors (SET, COE, CBAA, CED-IDS, CASS, SCS), the KASAMA president, and Sir Marlo (guest speaker).

The talk was about time and event management (something that I am seriously weak at, but am working on) and as an officer, this was a big avenue for future possible applications. Sir Marlo also introduced the concept of work life balance (in which I am greatly amazed) and Stephen Covey’s “The 8 Habits of Highly Effective People” (in which I am very hopeful to achieve, so help me God!). HAHAHA!

These are the LOSERS (capitalized for emphasis) of the Pula-Puti pastime game brought in by Gea and we couldn’t stop laughing at the consequences that they’d undertaken: the “Guess What?” game of presumption initiated by Justine.

So lunch break came, and Markki, one of our closest friends (also a graduate, obviously) visited us. Of course, we wouldn’t miss the chance of photo ops, right? Thus, the gang pic. Then I hurriedly ran to the gym, hoping that I could still catch some of my friends, but failed. So I went back to finish the assembly.

Here’s my certificate for attending the assembly. Special thanks once again to the President and the Senate Pres. for this one!

True to the fact that I couldn’t feel any hint of remorse for missing my closest friends’ grad because of the epic-awesome wisdom that Sir Marlo imparted, this was definitely a big help to my governorship. Coz despite the ceaseless what-ifs and constant fears of future potential EC problems, I can finally say that “I am ready!”

In today’s highly dynamic world of multimedia entertainment, sticking to a single field is no longer the best way to capture an audience. Like say, in my latest attempt at being the jack-of-all-trades, I was somehow inclined to the idea of hoisting social wakefulness. So what’s my next big move? Simple. It’s film-making, baby!

Well, I’m not really new to the whole film-making thingamajig. Not to sound too conceited, but I was part of CBAA’s film entry Twist (2012) that garnered numerous awards from different prestigious local film competitions. We’re crafting this film (Sinan) for Natonal Federation JPIA’s annual “Cine JPIA”.

This new project, Sinan, stands as my second collab with the award-winning local director Jian Calledo (left),prior to last year’s Twist..

Then the usual routine goes with me creating a storyline and screenplay (in which I initially named the film “Tambol”, but due to the lack of materials, we renamed), presenting it to the team for revisions, then Direk Jian putting it to life through his remarkable flair in cinematography and video editing.

Sinan stars four promising BS Accountancy students namely Sandra Nonesa (Islay), Nelvie Bantilan (Nova), Christine Baterna (Juaning) and Samuel Anonas (Pablo). It follows the life of three Badjao women in pursuit of money to nurse back their sick loved one to health. The film depicts the cruelty of everyday life as they battle to survive the incessant spite of poverty.

Along with the standout talents of Jennica Marie Destura (Production Designer), Alma Mae Vina (Costume Designer) and Ameer Manaros (Cinematographer), Sinan captured the authentic scheme of the Badjao community.

Now you get to know what the best part is: not to sound too conceited once again, but Sinan won Best Film (Cine JPIA) and two other awards, Best in Cinematography and Best in Musical Scoring in the recently concluded LILAS Filmfest. Far be it for you to suggest that people should stick only to what they do best, but I really seem happy whenever I’m doing a film. And I couldn’t thank Jennica more for putting her trust in my talent! (Thanks, Jen!)

I know that it was eradicated in the 70’s: and that, it could have been another strange dream, ‘cept that it happen on a New Year (ON A FREAKIN’ NEW YEAR). I started to freak out and googled what it meant. I was more than delighted to discover that it implies “money and prosperity” in general. HAHA! Let’s hope for the best!

Seasons of greetings, seasons of joy! What supposed to be a one-day social gathering has turned out to be a month-long yuletide celebration. Oops, make that four -ber months! This is the time when we wait for our favorite guardian Jack Frost to randomly sweep snowflakes unto our busy roads (how I wish). And even our Spanish amigos are sending their Feliz Navidad holiday greetings. Coz’ one thing’s for sure, baby: SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWN!

Okay, so I have successfully turned our miniature room into a little studio. Bought 4 meters of green cloth and searched for 8 thumbtacks to assemble the whole thing. Further convinced my Lil’ brother, Abing, to take the photos (which he gladly and surprisingly did). Awesome persuasion skills I got there!

Kinda had a trivial problem figuring out the whole outfit. My closet’s in Iligan and I only bought an insufficient number of clothes with me, enough to last for the holidays (which explains the lack of style and ensemble)! So, no hate! Spread the love instead! HAHA.

That’s my 10-year-old camera from Mom out there! Doesn’t work though. Never got the chance to use it (like, ever). Sucks!

After years of searching for the probable truth behind the Mayan prediction, the startling (and seemingly stupid, I think) question “Is the world gonna end?” has finally put to a halt. Numerous theories have risen, and frightening explanations have been made on the anticipated Armageddon. Today is the day that we got to prove those theories wrong. Three days before Christmas: there is no other place like home! Last night, we prayed the rosary for my uncle’s speedy recovery, and the feeling of praying together was an infinite delight. December 17, 2012. A year of seemingly lingering recovery and psychological restoration had passed, but remnants of the unforeseen catastrophe nicknamed Sendong that took thousands of lives in Mindanao are still evident. I am a living witness of the abominable tragedy! It’s not that I was directly affected by the storm. I was more than lucky not to experience the calamity myself, but more clearly, I wasn’t spared from the slow crushing agony of seeing people weep in pain because they lost their homes and families. So in commemoration, here’s a tribute to the Sendong victims!

In actuality, I was completely out of shirts to wear (by out, I mean, scarcity of new shirts) and I was staring wholeheartedly at my closet for quite a time realizing the possibility that I might get late in my Statistics prelim exam if I didn’t decide fast! Intuition (or just a keen eye for fashion) helped me reach a decision: so I chose the black shirt in recognition to Sendong, hurriedly grabbed my Penshoppe jacket and ran to school on full speed.

The exam was beyond simple (thank God!) but due to the verifiable truth that I always skip lunch, I was starving after the exam. Kinda asked Legine, who happens to be starving too — more like all the time, HAHA, to take a photo of me wearing the shirt, so the random photo shoot follows! With the rest of the b*tches, we then went to Jolibee and talked about Sendong and some utterly serious stuff!

Spare me the YOLO lecture, I have seen some of the the deplorable death-by-accident movies. To state the obvious, I have been extremely idle for quite a time now. And by idle, I mean, “… the term which generally refers to a lack of motion and/or energy”, as how wikipedia would put it. On the grounds of my prodigious fascination to TVD’s episode “My Brother’s Keeper”, I have actually contrived a Mystic Falls inspired fashion shoot. Like, a very literal Mystic Falls fashion shoot! HAHA! Now what can make a random pictorial session more accomplished than presenting my newest bowtie item? Wanky.

Along with my Econ B*tches, my keenly framed sojourn to Kapatagan for Danahlyn’s debut party was noteworthy. As much as I adored the picture-perfect scenery, the Cathedral Falls is definitely one-of-a-kind. If I may say, my pictures didn’t do justice to this magical, majestic (and mystic, so to speak) falls!

Ultimately, this day has been notably meaningful for a number of specific reasons: (1) the dili-ni-inyo-balay bus experience; (2) the Badjao inspirational talk (subject for potential future short films); (3) Legine’s amazing (and most of the time disastrous) contingency plans; (4) on-the-spot debut hosting; and (5) bloodcurdling, random van knock while passing a cemetery. Found this plaid top in my home closet. I forgot I even had it, and took the chance to bring it back to Iligan for some re-sizing. Ta-da! I’ve always had that intuition for what’s good and what’s not. Glad this one’s on the what’s good catalog. Too much for a visionary, eh?

Reality check: semestral break is officially over and school fever is finally back … on full heat! Probably most of us — if not all — are still in an intellectual stupor (undeniably raising my right hand up here); the sight of our teachers doodling random stuff on the board still makes us squeamish. I admit that I kind of struggled with getting my head back on the game last semester, which highly distressed my overall GPA. But worry not; this fresh start marks my pledge of doing my best in attaining a bunch of future targets, both academic and social.

Got this wild boar white shirt on an Artwork sale. I actually love their collection of white tees! They have a wide set of creative designs ranging from a-dork-able human faces, animal totems and relatable phrases.

“Smize, you’re fierce!” as Tyra Banks would call it. I am working on mastering the angles of my face, and was trying to go out of the box by trying new expressions. How’s this for a head-start?

On top of everything, I really want to build a name in the fashion industry. I used to be undecided in my career aspirations and I wasn’t accurately sure of anything, until now. For what it’s worth (and kindly keep up with me on this), I will work my ass off til’ I can finally become a fashion icon for some people. After all, we dress to inspire and ~~not~~ to impress, right?

In a world overrun by gorehounds, art freaks and die-hard fans of the state of the art, freedom of expression has been a fundamental feat. As a fashion model in-the-making, I simply adore the artsy concepts of fashion photo shoots. I had to admit my LOOKBOOK passion is mounting this year: gradually adding the big EXTRA word to my definition of ordinary. Talk about classy and sassy!

WHAT I’M WEARING: Black Blazer, Black Button-Down and Boots (Thrifted), Slim Fit Black Jeans (Penshoppe), various accessories: the morbid skull tie, skull wristband and three finger ring (Thrifted). Hype this on lookbook here.

This fashion installation was my official entry to SPOOKBOOK.NU. My bff Letty got to ask me (a year ago) to do a Rick Genest look, and I honestly do not have any idea who he was by that time. It took me a week after to find out that he was that skull guy in the Born This Way MV. (We certainly all have our own fair share of I’m-such-a-loser-for-not-knowing-it experiences, this was definitely mine!)

We never got the chance to do the shoot last year due to time and distance constraints. And then semestral break came, and we’ve decided to finish what we’ve started by re-creating the whole idea and figure the whole thing together. Now, to state the obvious, we’ve fortunately fabricated an avant garde, magazine-type LOOKBOOK photo shoot: a rarity for me.

Hugely inspired by Rico, The Zombie Boy, Letty made use of concealers, eyebrows, paint brushes and poster paints for the face. And then with her unfailing words of advice, the wardrobe was all mine! I have always been intensely fascinated with the human anatomy, all things B&W, and the morbid stuff — evidently, this was a mishmash of my fancy sinister obsession.

I was completely unaware that the art on Rick’s body were tattoos (That freakin’ hurts!), though, I sort of guessed! If my spotty memory served me well, I have delved into his website for like a thousand times already. West East Mag’s editorial fairly stated that, “His shocking exterior is an expression of his inner struggle between good versus evil, life and death, anarchy against authority.”

And then here comes SPOOKBOOK.NU Halloween Costume Contest. I couldn’t have think of any other gear to immortalize my concept of Halloween: “I just need to do Rick Genest!”

Big thanks to Letty! Hope I did justice to the look coz’ without a doubt, there’s no way of denying that I am decidedly a Rick Genest fan!

So, I was tediously left with post-novel visualizations after reading “The Lying Game” by Sara Shepard. A week ago, I was sitting still on a moving bus picturing the list of things I am about to do in my three-week-long semestral break: in which “book reading” was not on it. The minute I landed home, I immediately detected the book — the synopsis enticing me to read further.

The PLL author surely did an astounding job in creating a new thriller series. Wickedly written in the perspective of a ghost, the series would leave readers wanting for more. Without delay, and due to distance margins (Ex. I am light years away from NBS), I asked my brother to scrounge a copy of “Never Have I Ever” from his classmate (random thanks to its owner).

I have read Book 2’s acknowledgement and discovered that there’s a TV series with the same name going on. Tried to google it, and found out that it started last year. What’s more satisfying than finishing the book series, then immediately proceed to “The Lying Game” TV series marathon? Damn hella excited!

I don’t get to keep my blog up to date: I probably only have the weekend to post some stuff here. Perhaps a major reason behind my sluggish updates is my overwhelming schedule packed with scholastic crap, MV shoots, dance practices and the like. Busy is the word, people! This week has been really, really hectic.

WHAT I’M WEARING: Plain Orange Sweater, Dark Brown Skinny Jeans, Diamond Timepiece, Black Bagpack and White Skate Shoes (Supra). Hype this on lookbook here.

I somehow bristle at the thought of wearing towering dance shoes in a day-to-day basis (that awkward feeling when people stare at you head-to-foot-ically, if you know what I mean). For one, I only wear them in dance rehearsals and big, classy production numbers. But I have always been used to countless scrutiny from random strangers. So, no biggie!

Now that I subscribe monthly to various magazines like Garage, Preview and Cosmopolitan, keeping them organized (and dirt-free, apparently) has been a personal responsibility. Stock boxes are certainly a must-have!

Truth is, I have always envied places with chilly weathers. They basically can wear anything that they want, from fancy overcoats to lovely, stylish sweaters without having to worry about excessive sweating.

The year has finally reached its 3/4th mark. I probably would want to spend the remaining -ber months wearing dance shoes after seeing its exquisiteness in this fashion installation.

Like most romantics, I am unmistakably a passionate junkie for Shakespearean tour de force. As you need more reasons to initiate a love club: fall in love with pink roses and bowties with red blazers. Looks like somebody’s going to swoop for our little Romeo here! Hold up, readers . . coz’ this fashion installation is hugely dedicated to Mr. William himself!

With a little inevitable progress, I am planning to expand my bowtie collection this month. I only have a week or so before the semestral break, which accurately means, “Hello Gingoog!” in a couple of days. I just love bowties. I mean, like, who doesn’t? They’re classy, sophisticated and fashionable. I definitely yearn for a collection expansion.

So I chose a pink rose (rather than a red one) for this shoot for the reason that I fancy pink stuff. Posted a fun post last month about my pink obsession. (Read the post: Bcoz’ I Love Pink) Even so, I am largely considering the idea of having an all-pink outfit post for lookbook someday!

This close-up photo immensely reminds me of the balcony scene. HAHA! We once had a dramatic duo in our English class back in high school (Look who’s nostalgic!) Somehow, in my tangled state of mind, I have imagined Romeo to be stylish, but still heftily fit in a way.

J-Zoners, unite! As enthusiasm flips the page from TGIFs to rickety funfests , it’s definitely time to read up on what’s in the next chapter: games and beaches, baby! Surprisingly, I was chosen as the official photographer of this bouncy social affair. Who wouldn’t say no for an answer, let alone if it could add some spark into your otherwise monotone fashion life?

The JZONE Funfest of the Christ’s Commission Fellowship started with a blast! Incredibly ensued in Don Arc Beach Resort, Initao, Misamis Oriental, the event initiated with the formation of four vigorous teams: Red-Nosed Reindeer, Ang-Green Birds, Blue Bear and Yellow Cobra.

I was evidently trying to impress Jeniebeth Ann with my photography bent. Good thing I was on the mood to take pictures! Classy.

I sort of had a collection of blurred pictures on the actual volleyball match, so I kind of filtered my photos. But behind a good volleyball game are good players. And a good arbitrator, don’t you think? HAHA!

I failed to eat my breakfast due to time constraints so I decided to grab some snickers instead. This totally made me ravenous!

The “Food Eating Contest” was indeed the toughest. Ranging from boiled eggs, to amplaya soup (Eeeew) and a whole plate of luscious spaghetti, team players really need to have the fighting spirit . . and a good appetite.

Couldn’t help but stare at this beautiful young lady the whole Food Contest time. She is so skeptically familiar that I just had to ask for her name. Turned out she’s the girlfriend of my highschool batch mate, which literally translates into us having the same hometown. That’s why she’s so familiar all along!

“Our mission is to provide economic consciousness through dynamic activities that will mold students into becoming quality and globally competitive individuals and serve as catalysts that will generate change to further establish diplomatic relationships among Economics societies.”

It has been a mantra now, especially for us, officers of the Junior Economics Society (JES), to successfully make this year a turning point to promote economic consciousness. One philanthropic intention why we want to forward this movement is that we desire to bridge the gap between economics practice and theory. Definitely a kickass way to have some fun while supporting a great cause!
